he 2022 Academic Year, will be a new experience with new challenges to solve.

Time to Study

I have made the decision to take advantage of a great study opportunity. I have applied for and been accepted onto the Postgraduate Certificate of Education. This PGCertEd through Auckland University will help me to further my skillset to the teaching of Maths and Science. The course is also eligible for a Woolf Fisher Trust Scholarship!

I am a great advocate of cross-curricular pedagogy as a way to strengthen the learning in the classroom. I am also passionate about the future of education and the potential of what Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) can bring to classrooms.

Teaching within the specialism of DigiTech has enabled me to develop varying ways to deliver concepts within the STEM subjects using ideas developed through adopting a connected approach to teaching and learning. This has been especially relevant in the last two years with having to adapt to alternative ways of learning in an interrupted school year.

I recognise that it is important to have a solid ‘learning foundation’ that will allow any learner to grasp an idea or concept at their own pace, and in their own way. In turn, I hope that completing this postgraduate will allow me to explore many opportunities to discuss ideas and concepts outside the realm of any particular ‘subject’. I would like to do this in such a way that supports young people on their journey and further explore and facilitate ideas and learning programmes that support our students to ‘connect the dots’. I am excited to explore how this new adventure is going to develop for me on a personal and professional level.

I will update you on my next steps as soon as I know them! WATCH THIS SPACE!
